All Good Things...

As the saying goes, "All good things come to a close" so to is Saguaro Painting Service. It has been 9 years ago that I started SPS and I have painted thousands of miniatures, but alas, not many of my own. So I have decided to shut down SPS as its now time for me to focus on my own painting.

I would like to thank all of my customers over the past 9 years, you guys were able to keep me from loosing my home when I was out of work and you provided me with a reason to not give up! So thank you once again for taking a chance with this small company of one!

When I started SPS, it was all about making money to keep my head afloat, my family thought it was crazy that I could get paid painting toy soldiers, but after a few years, they saw that it could be done. It was hard work, there were many commissions that I really hated working on, but in the end I am proud of every commission I completed and I only had one repaint project out of the nine years ( and it was only two 15mm tanks that I put the wrong camp scheme on!).

Now I may still form time to time paint up a few things for people, but the day of having three or more commissions sitting on the desk are done. I am excited about this new phase of my painting, because no I can paint when I want, what I want and take as long as I need.

So once again, thank you to all my customers, you guys rock, but now it's time for my own figures to see some paint love...

In fact we are so busy right now, it looks like I am booked up until the end of January 2017! So if your interested, drop us an email, but unfortunately I will not be able to get to anything until the earliest of February 2017.

Still here and painting away...

So just finished up a large WW1 German army for Flames of War Great War game. This is part one of a two part collection, the other being a WW1 French army to fight against the Germans. I am also working on a 6mm WW2 commission so stay tuned for that.

Thunder Mesa Mining Company Desperados

Quick little update today. Did this little free commission for a friend up in Camp Verde for his On30 layout called Thunder Mesa Mining Company which is a railroad blog that I follow. You will notice that the model railroad layout is based on the Big Thunder Mine train rollercoaster at Disneyland and the Calico Mine Train at Knott's Berry Farm. Dave Meek is an outstanding modeler and I love looking at his layout.

A few weeks ago he did a post on an expansion of the layout and I thought I would send him a few extra old west figures I had lying around to populate the layout. Now these are Foundry miniatures and are 25mm ( or 1/56 scale) and will be pretty close to 1/48th scale figures. So a few hours of work and off went these four desperados to join the Thunder Mesa Mining Co (or Rob their trains!)

Thorins Company

So a quick update, just finished up Thorins Company for a good friend up in Colorado. Sad thing is the models look better in person than they do in these pictures. Enjoy!
